November 4, 2010

About the October 28, 2010 Class Session

General Overview

Thank you for your active participation while reviewing the course work on Pictorial Modernism, Heroic Realism and Propaganda Imagery last Thursday.

I have reviewed your Process Books and have recorded the points on Moodle. I view these books as “a work in progress” –so you may update the content of your book pages to up your points if you wish. I will talk about how to do this in class on the November 4th.

Next Week

Next week I would like to start the class with a review and discussion of what you are considering doing for your final project. I will collect your project proposal summary after this discussion. You were to choose one of the three assignments below as your final project.

1. A research paper or presentation that compares two illustrators’ lives, subject matter and styles.

2. A research paper or presentation that documents the growth of a prominient illustrator’s style and work.

3. The creation of artwork that immitates a particular illustrator or style and a presentation of the process of the artwork.

We will then move onto looking at the topic of Children’s Book Illustrations. At 3:00 p.m. Jim Ratliff our librarian will visit the class to talk about the topic research and introduce the research sources in our library in Anna Whiten Hall.

Homework:

1. The homework is to write a summary of what you intend to do for your final project.

For the class session next week:

1. Bring your class supplies with you.

Looking forward to seeing you in class next Thursday – class will start at 1:30 p.m. Please plan accordingly.
